The electric advantage.

As Australia’s charging infrastructure grows, Hyundai is there to support your drive and reduce your running costs when it matters most.

Scheduled charging.
Take advantage of cheaper off-peak electricity rates by simply plugging in and scheduling your preferred charging times through the multimedia touchscreen to manage your charge times and budget.
Lower servicing costs.
The Kona Electric does not have a petrol motor, meaning fewer moving parts for servicing - saving you money at the mechanic and more time on the road.
Regenerative braking.
Take control of the level of regenerative braking with the paddle shifters on the steering wheel. It allows you to recharge the battery using kinetic energy captured when the car is coasting or brakes are applied, increasing energy efficiency to help extend your driving range.

Calculate your savings.

Calculate the projected running costs of your Kona Electric, and see the positive change it can make on your wallet.

The Kona Electric features an upgraded version of Hyundai SmartSenseTM[H1] – our cutting-edge suite of driver safety technologies. Each of those technologies has one thing in common: they’ve been developed to alert you to (and help you avoid) any dangers around you.

Smart_Cruise_Control_Icon.svg

Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop & Go.

SCC utilises the front radar sensor to detect the speed and distance of vehicles in front of the Kona Electric. SCC then automatically maintains a safe distance to the vehicle ahead, up to a pre-set speed set by the driver (between 30km/h – 180km/h).

The Stop & Go function allows SCC to work in stop/start traffic, bringing the vehicle to a complete stop when appropriate, and automatically (if within 3 seconds) accelerate back up to the original set speed. If the vehicle is stationary for over 3 seconds, SCC w/ Stop & Go will prompt the driver to continue cruise conditions via the steering wheel controls.

Driver_Attention_Warning_Icon.svg

Driver Attention Warning (DAW).

Driver Attention Warning (DAW) uses the windshield-mounted camera to continually monitor the Kona Electric’s position in a lane, while also tracking steering, brake pedal use, and time since your last break. When a pattern of fatigue or distraction is identified, the system gets your attention with an alert plus a pop-up message suggesting you take a rest stop. The system now also features Leading Vehicle Departure Alert, which monitors the vehicle ahead when Kona is stopped in traffic. If the preceding vehicle drives off, and the Kona driver fails to accelerate from a standstill, the system will sound a gentle chime to alert the potentially inattentive driver.
Blindspot_Collision_Avoidance_Assist_Icon.svg

Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA).

At speeds of 20km/h or above, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) uses radar sensors on either side of the rear bumper to detect vehicles next to and diagonally behind the Kona Electric. If a vehicle is present in the Kona Electric’s blind spot, a visual alert is displayed in the exterior mirrors. If the driver proceeds to activate the corresponding indicator lights, a flashing visual warning is provided and an audible alert is sounded.

Additionally, the system also scans for vehicles approaching rapidly from the rear, and uses the same warning measures to alert the driver of vehicles which may be entering the Kona Electric’s blind spot at a faster speed. At speeds of 60km/h or above, if the driver proceeds to carry-out a lane change after the audible alert is sounded, BCA will apply partial braking to help avoid a collision with an approaching vehicle.

Forward_Collision-Avoidance_Assist_Icon.svg

Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA).

Sensing the road ahead with radar and a camera, FCA warns you of a potential collision with a car, pedestrian or cyclist. If no driver intervention is detected after the warning, FCA will automatically apply the brakes to help avoid a collision.
Lane_Keeping_Assist_Icon.svg

Lane Keeping Assist (LKA).

LKA provides steering intervention to assist the Kona Electric to stay within the lane markings and road edges. If it strays from its intended lane without any indicators being activated, an audible and visual warning will be sounded.
Rear_Cross-Traffic_Collision-Avoidance_Assist_Icon.svg

Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA).

Using the BCA system’s radar sensors, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) monitors for traffic approaching on either side of the Kona Electric when reversing out of perpendicular parking spaces at speeds of up to 8km/h. Should RCCA detect a vehicle approaching, an audible warning will sound, with a visual warning displayed on the dash cluster.

In the case that the driver does not adhere to the warning, RCCA may apply a braking force to help avoid a collision with the approaching vehicle.

Connect to the road, and your world.

Whether it’s the seamless phone connectivity with Apple CarPlayTM[P1] and AndroidTM[P2] Auto compatibility, or the 10.25" digital supervision cluster, it's hard not to love a drive as convenient and enjoyable as the one you'll have with the Kona Electric.

Charging to fit your lifestyle.

Enjoy the flexibility that comes with an electric vehicle and recharge at home, at work or at one of the expanding network of charging stations while you’re out and about. Take advantage of off-peak charging times to increase savings and ensure your Kona Electric is ready to go when you are.

DC fast charging station.
The Kona Electric is capable of utilising a commercial DC fast charging station with a maximum charging capacity of 100kW. It can recharge from 10% to 80% in 47 minutes when connected to a 100kW DC station or in 64 minutes when connected to a 50kW station. You can use your multimedia touchscreen to find sat nav directions to the nearest DC fast charging station[C1].
Emergency charging cable.
Every Kona Electric comes with an In-Cable Control Box (ICCB). This emergency cable can be used to charge the car from a regular household 240V AC 3-prong power outlet, taking approximately 28 hours for a full charge[C3].
Off-peak charging.
Easily schedule your Kona Electric to charge at off-peak times through the multimedia touchscreen settings. Simply set the start and finish time so your car is ready when you need it.
Charging status.
For convenience, LEDs beside the charge port show the battery status. The light surrounding the port turns green when it’s charging and white when fully charged.
