Safety.

Hyundai SmartSense™

No shortcuts to safety.

At Hyundai, we’re always searching for new and better ways to make driving safer. Because as with every other aspect of life, driving is unpredictable – and we believe it makes sense to do everything possible to help avoid these situations, just in case. Our dedicated engineers and designers strive to create increasingly smarter, stronger and more technologically-advanced cars that minimise the very real risks on the road for drivers, passengers and pedestrians alike.

5 star ANCAP rating.

ANCAP star ratings indicate the level of safety a vehicle provides for drivers, passengers and pedestrians in the event of a crash, as well as its ability – through technology – to avoid or minimise the effects of a crash. We are absolutely committed to safety, and that’s why all our vehicles have been ANCAP tested to guarantee the highest possible safety ratings in their respective classes. With Hyundai, you can be confident it’s not just you that puts you and your family’s safety first.

Seamlessly integrated.

Our suite of advanced safety technologies have been subtly incorporated into the design of each and every model, inside and out, so they’re always on guard and ready to protect you, even if you don’t notice them much of the time.

Class leading technology.

Achieving the highest possible ANCAP ratings for our cars is one way to demonstrate our commitment to safety. But we don’t stop there. On top of all the safety fundamentals (such as airbags, anti-lock brakes and traction control), we go further by adding some of the most advanced car safety tech.

Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA).

The front radar sensor detects when the car ahead is travelling too close for comfort. Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) gives a visual and audio warning, while FCA with City/urban/Interurban/Pedestrian and Car & Pedestrian can also pick up pedestrians and cyclists that are travelling in front and automatically apply the vehicle’s brakes in the case of a potential collision.

Blind-Spot Detection (BSD).

Radar sensors built into the rear bumper scans for vehicles that may be approaching or travelling in your blind-spots. Blind-spot Detection (BSD) and Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) sounds an audio and visual alert in the exterior mirrors to alert the driver of the hazzard, while Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist (BCA-R) provides steering intervention if necessary.

Lane Keeping Assist (LKA).

The mounted camera detects lane markings to monitor the vehicle’s position in the lane. Should the vehicle stray from the intended lane without activating the indicators, Lane Departure Warning (LDW) will issue an audible and visual warning will be sounded and where required, Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) will provide steering intervention to keep the vehicle in the centre of the lane.

High Beam Assist (HBA).

Scans the road ahead for lights, then automatically adjusts headlamp range, switching between high and low beam.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).

Reversing out of carparks just became easier. When in reverse, the rear sensors are activated to monitor approaching traffic existing parking spots. When a vehicle approaches a blind-spot, an audible warning will sound along with a visual in the dash cluster when equipped with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA), or Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW).

Lane Change Assist (LCA).

Rear sensors scan blind spots for any approaching vehicles when the driver indicates to merge, Lane Change Assist (LCA) gives a visual and audible notification to alert the driver of the potential hazard if they’re travelling too close or too fast for merging to occur safely.

Smart Cruise Control (SCC)

Smart Cruise Control (SCC) maintains the pre-set speed of your vehicle by using the mounted camera or front radar sensors detecting the speed of vehicles ahead, maintaining a safe distance by braking and accelerating back up to the pre-set speed. When equipped with Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go the feature also works in stop-start traffic to can automatically bring the vehicle to a stop or accelerate as needed.

Driver Attention Alert (DAA).

The windshield mounted camera continually monitors the vehicle's position in the lane and analyses steering corrections and driving patterns to detect signs of fatigue, issuing a warning alert and visual to advise the driver to take a break.

Hyundai_Safety_smartsense_RearOccupantAlert_450x284.png

Rear Occupant Alert (ROA).

An ultrasonic sensor detects movement when the car is locked, where Rear Occupant Alert (ROA) sounds the horn and flashes headlights to attract the driver's attention and ensure no one is left behind in an unattended vehicle.

Surround View Monitor (SVM).

The Surround View Monitor comes in handy when on the move with luggage blocking the rear-view or for tight parking spots by giving the driver a 360-degree bird’s eye view of the vehicle’s surroundings.

Hyundai_Safetyfeaturesicon_safetyexitAssist_smartsense_450x284.png

Safety Exit Assist (SEA)

Using the front and rear sensors of the car, Safe Exit Assist (SEA) alerts of hazards approaching that may make exiting the vehicle unsafe.

Advanced Smart Parking Assist System(ASPAS).

What could be more convenient than a steering assist system that helps manoeuvre in and out of parking spots? Simply select ‘Reverse Parking (90o)’, ‘Parallel Parking’ or 'Parallel Exit’ mode and let your vehicle do the rest.
