ABS
Anti-lock Braking System (also known as Anti-Lock Brakes or ABS brakes) are fitted by law to all new cars sold in Australia.
If a driver has to brake hard suddenly, instead of continuing into a straight skid (and potentially into a crash), ABS brakes quickly apply and release varying amounts of braking force to each of the car’s four wheels. This rapid-fire repeating cycle keeps adjusting itself to each individual wheel’s speed, making it easier for the driver to maintain control. Active Blind Spot Assist
Think of this technology as a blind spot monitor and lane change assistant. At speeds of 30 km/h and above, a car with Active Blind Spot Assist uses rear radar sensors to scan for vehicles driving next to and diagonally behind it – ie. in the driver’s ‘blind spot’. If it detects a vehicle, it alerts the driver. If the driver then proceeds to activate the indicator lights or starts to make a lane change, a visual warning flashes and an alert is sounded.
Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS)
As a result of heat treatment processes, Advanced High Strength Steel is up to 10% lighter than, and twice as rigid, as conventional mild steel. Hyundai vehicles are built using large amounts of AHSS, giving them exceptional torsional rigidity and high levels of passive safety.
All Wheel Drive (AWD)
All Wheel Drive works to automatically give you the best traction for the surface you’re currently driving on by electronically adjusting the proportion of wheel turning movement of the front and rear axles. For example on unsealed, more challenging terrain, the front and rear wheels would receive a 50:50 balance of traction, while on a paved road, all drive power would revert to the front wheels only.
ANCAP
The Australasian New Car Assessment Program is an independent car safety rating program that rates and compares the levels of driver, passenger and pedestrian protection of different cars when tested in common types of crashes.
A vehicle with a five-star ANCAP rating offers the highest level of protection for both occupants and pedestrians.

Cruise Control
Cruise control allows a driver to set and maintain a fixed driving speed without needing to keep a foot on the accelerator pedal. It’s ideal on highways and freeways because there aren’t frequent stops, turns or sharp driving manoeuvres.
Cars equipped with Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go use front-end radar sensors to detect the speed and distance of vehicles in front of them to maintain a safe distance. The Stop & Go function works in stop/start traffic, bringing the vehicle to a stop when appropriate, then automatically accelerating when it’s safe to do so.
Driver Attention Warning (DAW)
This feature analyses a driver’s on-road actions for signs of fatigue or otherwise unsafe driving. If the system senses inattentive driving patterns or frequent steering corrections, an audible sound and alert on the display panel will bring this to the driver’s attention.
Diesel Direct Injection (DDI)
A direct injection diesel engine uses compressed air to inject fuel into the engine, which delivers higher performance yet lower emissions than a diesel engine that doesn’t have DDI.
Driveaway price
This is a total price that factors in how much a car costs to buy inclusive of purchase price, dealer charges, third party insurance, registration and other government fees, so there are no surprises when you take possession and “drive away” from the dealer.
Dual zone climate control
Adjust your air conditioning so there are two separate temperature zones inside the car – one for the driver and a different one for the passenger.
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)
This safety system uses a front radar sensor or windshield-mounted camera to detect and monitor vehicles and pedestrians in front of the car. If the system thinks a collision is likely, it sounds a warning chime and displays a visual alert. FCA can also work in conjunction with Forward Collison Warning (FCW) to automatically apply the vehicle’s brakes if it detects a potential collision ahead.
High Beam Assist (HBA).
While you’re driving with your high beam headlights on, High Beam Assist is automatically scanning the road ahead. If it detects an oncoming vehicle, it will automatically dim your headlamps to low beam.
Horsepower (hp)
Horsepower is one of the main measurements used to express the power output of cars. In general, the more horsepower a car produces, the faster its acceleration. A car’s power output can also be measured and expressed in kilowatts (kW).
HTRAC
When driving over challenging, rougher terrains, Hyundai SUVs fitted with HTRAC traction control intelligently redistribute power across all four wheels to improve stability, control, acceleration and fuel efficiency.
Hybrid
Hybrid electric cars are powered by both batteries and petrol engines, switching between them as required to deliver dynamic power while saving money and reducing their carbon footprint. Find out more about this rapidly evolving technology.
Hyundai Car Plan™
This is a Hyundai finance product that provides three flexible options to consider at the end of your finance contract: Keep your Hyundai and pay out the balance; return it to us and use its value to lower the amount owing; trade it in on a new Hyundai. kW
Kilowatts (kW) are one of the main measurements used to express the power output of an engine to communicate its overall performance. In general, the more kilowatts (kW) a car produces, the faster its acceleration. Also commonly expressed in horsepower (hp).
Lease car
Leasing is a finance option where your employer pays for you to have access to a car via your overall salary package, using a combination of pre-tax and post-tax salary deductions. At the end of the pre-agreed lease period, you have the choice to either return the car, or own it outright by paying the outstanding balance.
Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
This electronic safety system uses a vehicle’s windshield-mounted camera to detect lane markings on the road to monitor its position in a lane. If the vehicle strays from its lane without its indicators being activated, an audible and visual warning will sound to alert the driver.
Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)
Working in tandem with Lane Departure Warning, this safety feature will make an early steering intervention to help keep a veering vehicle in the centre of its lane.
myHyundai
The online portal for Hyundai owners, it provides them with easy, 24/7 access to information about their vehicle, as well as information about exclusive offers and Hyundai-sponsored events.
Rear Cross-traffic Collision Avoidance (RCCA)
When reversing out of parking spaces, rear sensors will monitor traffic approaching from either side behind you. Should RCCA detect a vehicle approaching, audible and visual warnings will activate. The system may even apply braking force to help you avoid a collision.
Roadside Assistance
Mobile on-road mechanics are available to come to your rescue day or night if you’ve broken down, lost your keys, run out of petrol, found yourself with a flat tyre, or left your lights on and unexpectedly need a jump-start. Torque
Torque is the rotational force coming from a vehicle’s engine and transmission to drive the wheels. Torque as a measure represents how much power an engine can produce. High torque allows a vehicle to accelerate quickly from a standstill and move heavy loads like a trailer.
Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
The TPMS monitors the pressure for each individual fitted tyre, and warns the driver if the pressure drops below the recommended level. Correct tyre pressure helps tyres last longer, grip the road more effectively, and improve fuel economy.
Turbocharger
This device quickly and strongly boosts an engine’s power output without adding a significant amount of weight or size. It works by forcing compressed air into the engine’s internal combustion chamber. Can also help the engine operate more fuel-efficiently.
