The Kona features an upgraded version of Hyundai SmartSenseTM[H4] – our cutting-edge suite of driver safety technologies. Each of these technologies has one thing in common: they’ve been developed to alert you to (and help you avoid) any dangers around you.
SCC utilises the front radar sensor to detect the speed and distance of vehicles ahead of the Kona. SCC then automatically maintains a safe distance to the vehicle ahead, up to a pre-set speed by the driver (between 30km/h – 180km/h).
The Stop & Go function allows SCC to work in stop/start traffic, bringing the vehicle to a complete stop when appropriate, and automatically (if within 3 seconds) accelerate back up to the original set speed. If the vehicle is stationary for over 3 seconds, SCC w/ Stop & Go will prompt the driver to continue cruise conditions via the steering wheel switches.
Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) uses radar sensors on either side of the rear bumper to detect vehicles next to and diagonally behind the Kona. If a vehicle is detected in the blind spot while the turn signal is flashing, BCA will automatically apply left or right side front braking before your attempted lane change thus helping you avert an unsafe lane change and a potential collision.
Lane Keeping Assist –Line/Road Edge (LKA-L/R) system consists of two modes – Lane Departure Warning (LDW) mode, and Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) mode. At speeds of 60km/h or above, LDW uses the windshield mounted camera to detect lane markings and road edges, and monitors the vehicle’s position in the lane. Should the vehicle stray from the intended lane without indicators being activated, an audible and visual warning will be sounded. LKA can be active at speeds of 60km/h or above where lane markings can be detected. LKA helps prevent the vehicle from straying from the lane by providing steering intervention should the driver not react to warnings from the LDW system.
Lane Following Assist (LFA) uses the front windshield mounted camera to detects lane markers and preceding traffic on the road, and provides steering assistance to ensure the vehicle stays in the centre of the lane.
Using the BCA system’s radar sensors, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) monitors for traffic approaching on either side of the Kona when reversing out of perpendicular parking spaces at speeds of up to 8km/h. Should RCCA detect a vehicle approaching, an audible warning will sound, with a visual warning displayed on the dash cluster.
In the case that the driver does not adhere to the warning, RCCA may braking force and help avoid a collision with the approaching vehicle.
The Kona’s performance is just as fun as its personality. Kona 2.0 MPi variants are fitted with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) that features Hyundai’s latest SmartStream Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) technologies. The transmission features 8 simulated gear ratios (with sequential manual mode) to provide an easy and familiar driving experience, whilst a chain belt-type design to eliminate slippage and improve efficiency. Exclusive to N Line variants, the 1.6L Turbo GDi AWD with 7-speed dual clutch automatic offers a sharp throttle control and impressive torque, allowing you to get off road to explore even further. If the vehicle has been used for private and domestic purposes and is not and has not been previously used for a commercial application, including but not limited to taxi, hire, rental, courier, security, driving school, tour, bus operator or emergency vehicle. Vehicles used at any time for “commercial application”, as defined in the vehicle warranty policy, are excluded. Passenger vehicles that are or have been used for a commercial application are provided with a 5 year/130,000km warranty (whichever occurs first). For 12 months from the date of purchase of the Hyundai Genuine Part or Hyundai Approved Part from an authorised Hyundai dealer or authorised Hyundai service outlet (Warranty Period), Hyundai warrants that the Hyundai Genuine Part or Hyundai Approved Part will be free from defects arising in workmanship or materials, subject to the conditions outlined under "General Exceptions". Roadside Support Plan
Included 12 months Roadside Support when you purchase a new Hyundai passenger vehicle (excluding rental buyers). Further Roadside Support extensions are available, each for 12 months from the date of a scheduled maintenance service at a participating authorised Hyundai dealer (unless vehicle is more than 108 months (9 years) from the original new car sale date, in which case entitlement to Roadside Support ends when vehicle reaches 120 months (10 years) from original new car sale date). Sat Nav Update Plan
Only applies to new vehicles with factory-fitted satellite navigation. Updates are delivered annually and are included if the vehicle completes a scheduled service at a participating Hyundai dealer. For i30 (PD), i30N (PDeN), IONIQ (AE), Elantra (AD), Veloster (JS), Kona (OS MY19+), Tucson (TL FL), Santa Fe (TM), Venue (QX) and Sonata (DN8). Models with factory-fitted satellite navigation, updates must be undertaken within 10 years of the vehicle’s initial purchase, maximum number of 9 updates. For all other Hyundai’s (excluding i45) updates must be undertaken within 6 years of the vehicle’s initial purchase, maximum number of 5 updates.
