Is your car safe enough?
Making safety a standard.
In this last year, there has been a 5.7 per cent decrease in Australia’s road death toll and at Hyundai, we are doing everything we can to continue this by ensuring that the car you drive gives you, your passengers, other drivers and pedestrians optimum protection in any situation. Safety on the road has become the greatest priority for Australian drivers and finding a vehicle that meets their concerns is uncompromisable.
If this post has already got you thinking about the safety of your car, do not fear, we’re here to help and provide you with all the information you need to know to determine if your vehicle is up to scratch.
Advancements in technology have allowed car brands to implement new features regularly, constantly striving towards achieving the best approach to on-road safety. Hyundai has gone above the standard realm of safety with our SmartSense™ package, which received a five-star ANCAP Safety Rating when tested in 2017.
It includes features such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) that are able to detect and monitor vehicles and pedestrians in front of your car. If a potential collision is detected, Hyundai’s SmartSense™ Forward Collision Warning (FCW) function will sound an audible warning chime and display a visual warning in the Supervision cluster – going as far as automatically applying the vehicle’s brakes when no driver intervention is detected.
Avoiding everyday safety hazards.
Whether you’re on a family road trip, heading home after a long day at the office, or simply finding that driving is starting to take it out of you – the reality is that sometimes driver fatigue can occur without us even realising. As a standard feature on Active with Safety Pack, Elite and Highlander variants, Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) uses radar sensors on either side of the rear bumper to detect vehicles next to and diagonally behind your car – displaying a visual alert if a car appears directly in your blind spot.
What’s more is that Hyundai has also developed an in-built Driver Attention Warning (DAW), which can detect when it’s time to turn off the engine and drop into your nearest rest stop for a break and some fresh air. It monitors the position of the car in the lane, tracks steering and brake pedal inputs as well as the time between your last break. The result? Once the ‘Attention Level’ display decreases to a certain threshold, the DAW system will recommend that the driver take a break – meaning you have peace of mind knowing that your car always has your back.
Looking to the future.
As we get older, feeling comfortable as we drive becomes a critical part of our safety. Having larger cabin space, ample leg and head room and supportive and comfortable seats can all positively impact alertness on the road. Hyundai’s Santa Fe, which also received a five-star ANCAP Safety Rating, ticks all these boxes and is the perfect car for those looking for an enjoyable and spacious ride with features to keep yourself and loved ones safe at all times. Safe Exit Assist (SEA) alerts you to the dangers of oncoming traffic, allowing you to exit the car at the safest time, while Surround View Monitor (SVM) gives you a 360° birds eye view of the vehicle as you park, manoeuvre or drive into the trickiest of spots. As the day turns into night, there’s no need to fret when you have Hyundai’s High Beam Assist (HBA) handy. The feature scans the road ahead and automatically adjusts headlamp range according to the car’s surroundings.
